Providing clear information at the moment of booking is the best way to manage expectations and ensure a smooth experience for every guest. By using personalized messages, you can proactively share important details about restaurant procedures, special events, or seating policies before the guest even arrives.
Follow these steps to set up messages on your Libro widget:
- Access your Libro Back-Office
- Go to My Restaurants and click on Settings
- Go to the Messages tab. Here, it is possible to add 3 types of messages:
- General messages: This message is displayed under the calendar on the first page of the reservation widget
- Important messages: This message is displayed on its own on the second page of the reservation widget, after selecting date and time.
- Confirmation messages: This message is displayed on the last page of the reservation widget, when the reservation has been completed.
- Click Add a message.
- Under the Publication Status and Behavior fields, you can decide whether the message is published or not, and whether it replaces or is added to other existing messages.

Type your message(s) in English and French in the respective boxes. It is also possible to customize your message using colours, bold or italic font for emphasis. You can also add an image or a link within the message.
Note: If your restaurant does not have French-speaking guests, copy-paste the English message into the French box.
- Schedule messages for specific dates and days of the week it should appear. For Important messages, you can also set precise time ranges for display.
- Click Save.
Note: Allow up to 1.5 hours for your message to appear correctly on the widget.
Best Practices
- Keep it Concise: Guests are more likely to read and remember short, punchy bullet points rather than long paragraphs.
- Be Proactive with Time Limits: If you have a busy service, a friendly note like "To accommodate all guests, tables are reserved for 90 minutes" helps prevent awkward conversations later.
- Update Regularly: Remember to remove mentions of past events or expired holiday menus to keep your displayed messages accurate.
Message Preview
You can see a preview of your different messages by going to the tab Online Reservations Settings, and scrolling down to the Integration tag for your website section. Here, you can use the widget preview to view your messages. You can also view your messages by going directly to your widget.
Note: Allow up to 1.5 hours for your message to appear correctly on the widget.
